Waiheke Island

This weekend I headed out to Waiheke Island which is only 45 minutes by ferry away from downtown Auckland. I got to hike around and see a decent chunk of the island and also had a fantastic view for most of the hike. At first I was a little nervous about travelling alone but once I got out walking, I discovered that hiking alone is probably one of the best things you can do. I think I am going to head back there next weekend or go to a nearby island. Here are some pictures.

The view while leaving the city (Isnt that a huge boat?!)

Me on the boat (A nice lady offered to take a picture for me)

I love traveling alone. it means that you can do things at your own pace and see the things that you want to see. im glad the trip went well.

By yourself - scary but confidence building. Looks like Halifax!

Alex, have you met a guy named Donovan - I think he is from Denver.

Sounds pretty awesome. I got a new Kiwi roommate a couple days ago. Nice guy, but quiet. On the upside, he's the only other endurance rider living here, so I finally have someone to ride with!

Ann: I saw Alex Lacey today!
Me: Alex who?
Ann: Alex Lacey!
Me: ...No you didn't.
Ann: I did! She was on a bike!
Me: ...No you didn't.
Ann: Why, where's Alex?
Me: She's in New Zealand...
Ann: Oh... Then I saw someone that looks a lot like Alex Lacey on a bike.

Alex, you have an evil twin around here I guess!
